A new addition is a Bishop, a special Court Chaplin for large religions. A new drastic change is that Chaplains can now fabricate claims on land and titles, an aspect of the game that used to be random. For example, Stewards have a new task called “development” that helps structure your economy, and Spymasters can attempt to uncover secrets to exploit. The core council members received some tweaks in an attempt to make them more impactful. Other methods of spoiling assassinations can be used, such as blackmailing characters with secrets you have come across, or even using the art of seduction to get what you want. The attempted assassination is no longer capable of being foiled prematurely and can only fail during the act. Players can take more actions to bolster the percentile chance of a successful assassination as well, the target character will take actions to protect himself if the scheme is found out. The video entry details upcoming tweaks, such as assassinations becoming much easier to plan and predict. The more in common you and the guest share the more often they will visit and try to be recruited.Īs well, members of your court that leave after attaining family member status too far down the line to inherit property become stateless and will be classified as “Wanderers.” These characters travel around and begin developing on their own Wanderers pick up skills, secrets and can possibly obtain a prestigious profession. Certain guests are more likely to visit if they carry a high opinion of you, or you have a goal that aligns with their goals. However, you will have to either offer them a title or a bribe-or seduce them to stay. These guests will stay for a few years but can be recruited if they are to your liking. While similar to the previous games in structure, the court in Crusader Kings 3 will be smaller on average and court members will leave your service to pursue other ambitions if they are not being utilized.Īdditionally, guests will be visiting your court and interacting with other court members. Crusader Kings 3 is retaining the five core councilors: Chancellors, Spymasters, Stewards, Marshals, and Chaplains as well as a possible vassal as a councilor. I feel like CK3 forgets that it's a game, and unlike the Sims, lacks really fun mechanics behind it's stories. The forum entry detailed the changes coming to the player’s court. I miss having challenges, like going to war with the abbasids or ummayads being a threat. I miss being able to push through tech as byz or the abbasids instead of being slightly better than a tribe but with a different succession type. I miss the world events such as the ottomans showing up, timurids, plagues. I'm not a fan of this as it's not a big challenge, nor a fun one, nor congruous to the games mechanics. Or being some visigothic descent culture. 99% of the difficulty will be in only spawning 1 heir and keeping them alive until the 1200s. The prior DLC, Northern Lords, added some features for Norse rulers but changed little about the game, this one seems like it'll do the same. Creating a melting pot culture will be a negative unless there's some inherent power boost from it. The penalty from wrong culture vassals is trivial especially if they're related to you. In the game currently it is far better to keep your culture small and generally confined near your development area so you can get tech faster. Interesting, and a decent system, but it doesnt seem to overcome the value of simply executing a few prisoners on ascent to the throne for max dread.Ĭulture seems to provide little value. The glory system is interesting as it seems a way to use historical concepts to reduce gold snowballing. The current DLC will introduce 2 major systems, glory, and cultural systems. When I see a Stellaris one, imperator, V3, EU4, Hoi, any of them features something new or interesting for me to play with.
